Look what the cat dragged in July 28, 2011

Two weeks ago, I returned from Australia. It feels like a lifetime ago. I had an amazing time staying with family. It made me look at Sydney in a whole new way. It made me appreciate the maintenance of family relations and also how wonderful London really is. While in Korea, I compared London and Seoul a LOT. And I always thought that London lacked in a lot of ways. But really, it has it’s own appeal. Seoul is new and bright and shiny. On the other hand, London is old, and buzzy and dirty in something of a wonderful way. Sydney, didn’t have either! I liked it, but it’s real appeal is when you go OUT of the city.

As a city, it doesn’t compare y’know? It’s not multicultural at all which I found disappointing, but expected because so many had warned me of it. The weather and the house prices make it a desirable place to live, in my opinion.

I lay out under the stars in the garden many a night. These were my favourite moments in Sydney. Just watching the sky overhead.

Now back from Sydney and back to the grind, I’ve decided to go back to Korea and seek my fortune. Literally. I’m gonna go get me some money. No more frivolous spending and travelling (maybe a little travelling).
I’ll miss Skywalker and Cluedo. They were here at the house for the past two weeks for my brother’s wedding festivities. No pictures of me once again. There usually aren’t at these family things because I have to take everyone else’s picture. Fair bit disappointing, specially since it was my first time ever wearing a sari.
Anyway, the kids have gotten really cute. Cluedo makes sounds like a baby pterodactyl. It’s a bit awesome. Skywalker can hold a full conversation now, about nothing at all. Truly her mother’s daughter TEEHEE.
However, one must look forward and to their best interests.

When I grow up, I want a game room. I’m talking a seriously magnificent game room.
It will have slouchy furniture, beanbag chairs, a huge tv, xbox and playstation. And I want a ping pong table and an air hockey table too. O my gosh it will be MAGNIFICENT.
Ru will have to help me make this gameroom. And I reckon Sasa wil have to too. So that it can be seriously awesome. SERIOUSLY!!
AAArggh I get excited thinking about it.
There’ll have to be a table the right height for lego and scrabble too. Because I like lego…and scrabble. And boardgames! There will be boardgames.
And a really good sound system. So we can watch movies and have parties in this room. Yes. This will be wonderful.

Expression April 29, 2011

Try as I might, I’m not great at expressing exactly how I feel. So when I come across something; a lyric, a poem, a proverb, a blog or hey, even a tweet that sums up my feelings, I get this ‘certain’ feeling. Like, ‘yes! Thank you for putting it into words! That’s justwhat I wanted to express but *palmface* all I come out with is gibberish’.

near midnight musings

attempts to quiet critical noise drive opportunities for change off the cliffs of logical thinking. let your burden scream at me, “you are less!” “you are wrong!” “you will never be…” let your anger pierce my shield. blame me for what is, what isn’t, and what could have been. i will hold your pain. i will keep your lies secret. i will shelter your frustration. and i will punctuate it all with care and a lack of logic that will turn it into love. then i will give it back to you.’

Endless Love April 27, 2011

For a while, I’ve been wanting a dog. They’re always happy to see you, and loyal and loving until the very end. Most of all, they’re consistent.
‘He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.’

Don’t get me wrong, I love cats, but they’re not consistent. They only want you when there’s food to be had or when they want cuddles. Unless you have one of those really really affectionate cats I guess..but there again; inconsistent. And though their independence makes them less adoring than a dog, it does also make them great pets for someone with a busy lifestyle.
Whereas dogs, well dogs are different.
I know there’s a lot more maintenance involved with a dog, which is why right now is not the best time to be getting a dog. But some day..

Getting a dog sounds much more appealing than getting married. Really, take care of a dog, and do all you can for it, and it will give you infinite love and joy in return. Shame you can’t say the same about a man 😉

Conversation with an embryo April 26, 2011

Think how it is to have a conversation with an embryo. You might say, “The world outside is vast and intricate. There are wheatfields and mountain passes, and orchards in bloom. At night there are millions of galaxies, and in sunlight the beauty of friends dancing at a wedding.”
You ask the embryo why he, or she, stays cooped up in the dark with eyes closed. Listen to the answer.
There is no “other world.” I only know what I’ve experienced. You must be hallucinating.

Twitter and other guilty pleasures April 25, 2011

I have one. If I know you, then through either skype or facebook, you will know the address. 🙂

In other news, guilty pleasures.

Guilty pleasure number 1: Baklava

I love baklava, but I reckon baklava has tired of me. It’s been a long time since I had some. Really, can you have too much of that deliciousness?..well I guess you can. And I hella miss it. It’s my favourite of desserts yo! However, I don’t know if I’ll ever taste it’s sweetness again. Or look at another dessert the same way.

Guilty pleasure number 2: I’m kinda looking forward to the Big Wedding.
Ridiculous right? But all this stuff about Princess Diana and her wedding (and yes the fall out too) kinda got me interested in the big day. Mainly what the dress is gonna look like.

Guilty pleasure number 3: Youtube
It’s clear that I’ve been watching TED talks. I’ve linked to the page and said how inspirational and awesome I find those videos in general. However, I have been sucked in by youtube on a whole lot of ‘not so high minded’ channels.
-America’s Next Top Model
David So’s Comedy
-Whose line is it anyway?
That kid who freaks out over World of Warcraft
-WongFu Productions (though that Strangers, again video DID make me weep a little).
Those are just to name a few. Youtube is seriously addictive.

I’ve been browsing these mini lectures, and I feel so inspired, so moved, sometimes to tears.
Tony Robbins says something in his talk, about imagining what you would do if you had just nine days to live. If you knew you didn’t have this indefinite amount of time but a very definite slice of life left. There’s nothing like death to realise how significant and important each second of life is.
What would you do? Who would you call confessing love? Who would you finally tell how much you appreciate them? What would you do to feel alive? What would you do to celebrate the world, yourself, your family, your friends?

What would you do, to ensure you had No Regrets?

What Would Kim Kardashian Do

Ok, I know that Kim Kardashian is a celeb and known for her booty and some other stuff. But all I know of her is through pictures. And DANGIT I LOVE her look. I’ll admit there were some looks which just didn’t do it for me, but otherwise, I love her makeup, her big hair, her body, and most of the outfits she wears.

Now, when picking outfits, methinks I’ll approach with a WWKKD mindset. Since I’m working on getting the flat tummy, may as well work on the image too! Some of what she wears is a little risque for me and my conservativeness, so I’m steering away from that, but her wardrobe provides me with inspiration. Inspiration to try things I’d otherwise not wear because I’d be thinking ‘o, it’ll make me look short’, ‘o it’ll make me look fat’. Whereas clearly, certain things look good on an hourglass body type that I thought wouldn’t!…if any of that makes any sense.
